    Question:
I am recovering from the use of methamphetamine, which I had initially begun taking approximately 1 year ago due to feelings of depression. I have chosen to attempt quitting which is where I am currently. One of my challenges seems to be the lack of energy and inability to motivate myself in the morning and follow through in my daily responsibilities. What can you suggest to help me through this?

    Answer:
Meth takes a huge toll on our bodies and the longer a person uses, the longer it takes for the body to heal. You have made the right decision to stop and should be proud of yourself, don't let the lack of energy and motivation stop you because as time goes on, things will get better. As hard as it is walking and exercise will help you stay focused, give you energy and make you feel good about yourself.

Eating right is very important for energy and health. Taking vitamin supplements will also help you to regain your health but you can't rely on them to do it all. Cutting back on sugars and fats will give you energy and the healthier you eat, the better you will feel in time. This is a slow process but it's definitely worth it, you're worth it and life does get better.

Take it one day at a time, eat right, take a vitamin supplement, get some form of exercise like walking, rest when you can and surround yourself with people that don't use and love and care about you. Stay as motivated as possible with support groups, positive recovery stories on the net or in books, and be proud of yourself for what you're doing.
