Meth Mouth Dental Care and Financial Help

    Question:
Hi michelle, i am a recovering meth addict 15 years sober. i have probally the worst case of meth mouth known to man. i cant afford insurance and most places wont hire me because i look so awful when i smile. i've been barely living off of unemployement for a year now. please do you know of any organizations that could help me with what i expect to be a large dental fee to fix my teeth? 15 years later and meth is STILL destorying my life.

    Answer:
First let me congratulate you on your successful recovery. Unfortunately there is no special financing to help recovering meth addicts get cheap dental help at this time. Studies are being done using grants to help dentists find ways to detect meth use in patients so they can get treatment in the early stages of their addiction.

    My Suggestions

My Dental Plans is not a dental insurance but an affordable dental discount program. They do offer more than just dental discounts. You purchase the plan you want and they have a list of dentists in your area to choose from that accept that particular dental plan.

I would call some of the dentists and explain your situation then talk to them about payments. Some dentists that accept this discount plan also offer low monthly payments.

I would also call dentists in your area and ask them personally if they know of a program that will financially help meth uses get treatment for meth mouth. They may know of an organization in your area willing to help that is not made available to the public.

Sorry that I don't have more helpful information but I do wish you the best of luck.

Hello. I know recently there were two free dental assistance programs I believe at Cal Expo. I did not find out about them until I read the newspaper the next day. The article talked about basically treating individuals with meth mouth in one day. My meth use (clean for five years) on my mouth is fairly advanced. It affects every aspects in my life. No friends, contact, or employment due to this condition. If I could have the names of the Dentists offering their free services, this may give me a start. I also have some funds that could be used to help in the process. Please help me. I know nowhere to turn. HELP!!!
