    Finally Free

Hi, my name is Jenni. I stand here today clean as ever and I love the feeling. October 4th, 2003 will be 8 months. I had a tough time quitting, but I'll get down to the dirty stuff now. It all started August 16, 2002 when my girlfriends and I went to the next town to meet some friends of theirs that I didn't know. That was the biggest step I ever made. They offered me some crystal to smoke and snort which I liked best. That was the beginning of a long but satisfying road. From that day on I was smoking and snorting meth daily. 3-4 times a day, anywhere, anytime I could get it.

I would come home every night. I thought I would never get this nasty secret out and I didn't. For 6 months I hid from my family, my church, and my REAL friends my deep dark secret. That just made me do it more because it was that easy to get away with. Meth was my life, my best friend. I was so blind to the fact that my tweeker friends weren't my real life pals. They were just smoking buddies. I remember going to work high as a kite and feeling normal as everyone else. I snuck out every night to go get high and wouldn't come home until I had to go to school. I remember coming home trying to sleep at night and all I would do was be paranoid. I would see crazy things, anything from animals to people walking around in my room. I became so used to it I would just smile and not blink for hours. I couldn't believe everything that was going on. Meth is a deceiving drug but on February 4th 2003 I had drawn the last straw. I had been staying at my friend Dominique's house because I couldn't stay home anymore. I overdosed and was rushed to the hospital and almost died. 2 days after that, I was sent into rehab. I have been great ever since that horrible day. I am meth free and everyone is so proud of me. I still smoke cigarettes but that's the most I'll ever do. Even though I'm 18. So please everyone out there who struggles, I only pray that the Lord be with you.

    Jenni W
