Crystal Meth Drug Production on The Rise

Crystal Meth Drug Production on The Rise

Because of how easily one can produce crystal meth, primarily with things that you can buy at the local drug store, the crystal meth epidemic is becoming increasingly dangerous and increasingly deadly as it sweeps the nation. Crystal meth is a serious drug with a lot of very serious health implications, and yet there are an estimated 1.5 million people who are addicted to it in the United States alone, and thousands more people will try it this year.

Will you try crystal meth? Will you be one of the unfortunate ones who become addicted on the first dosage?

According to national data supported by a recent news story, there is an increase in explosions and fires that are caused by the production of drugs. Not only does this indicate that the drug pandemic is one that is growing, but that more and more people are experimenting with the creation and development of drugs, which is a serious and deadly problem all of its own.

In a town called Lucasville, there was a brush fire that occurred as a result of the production of crystal methamphetamine drugs. Two people have been arrested following the investigation into this fire. A woman and a man, aged 29 and 36 respectively, were charged with the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. This is a second degree felony charge. They were also charged with a third degree felony, the illegal assembly of chemicals for the manufacturing of methamphetamine, and a fifth degree felony in the possession of criminal tools. This is just one case and there are many others.

According to National Seizure System statistics and data from El Paso's Intelligence Center, the number of fires and explosions that have come from the production sites for methamphetamine have increased in the recent years. There were 101 reported in the year 2008, 171 reported in the year 2009, and in only nine months of 2010 160 had been reported according to this data.

According to recent statistics, a single tenth of a gram worth of crystal meth is capable of costing between $5.00 and $20.00 in tablet form. Crystal meth has been largely in use since back in the 1960s, but in the 1970s the drug was virtually completely wiped away from the street until the market for this drug reopened again in the early part of the 1990s. Today in 2012 this is one of the most commonly abused illicit drugs on the market, largely because of how easily it can be created.

Manufacturing a pound worth of crystal meth is going to create approximately six points worth of toxic waste. Crystal meth has been categorized as a schedule 2 substance according to the Controlled Substances Act. This category of drugs includes both PCP and cocaine, and Schedule II means that the drug has a very high potential for abuse. Abusing these drugs is quite capable of leading to a severe dependence, both physically and mentally as well. Many people become hooked on crystal meth the very first time that they take it, and from that point forward the drug has a powerful hold over them both emotionally and physically as well.

According to the NSDUH or National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 10.4 million people over the age of 12 have at least tried the drug crystal meth once or more in their life, and there are approximately 1.3 million people who were reportedly using the drug on a regular basis as of 2004 and 2005. These statistics are staggering and they are getting worse before they get better. More and more people are beginning to take this drug, teens are taking it at early ages, and the drug is becoming increasingly harmful to the point where people are overdosing on it and dying the first time that they take it.

This highly addictive stimulant is not going away any time soon, and so it is becoming increasingly important for people to become educated on what this drug is all about. If you have an addiction to crystal meth, or if someone that you care about is battling an addiction to crystal meth, then now is the time for you to reach out and find some help. The right help is out there if you are willing to look for it, seek it out and ask for it but you cannot get the ball rolling on drug addiction recovery without first admitting that a problem exists.

There are more than 1.3 million people in the United States alone who are using and abusing crystal meth. If you are one of those people, then now is your chance to stop being a statistic and start getting real, honest help. Nothing is going to feel as good as getting over the addiction and enjoying a sober lifestyle once again. If you are battling an addiction to crystal meth or are using it in any capacity, casual, recreational or otherwise, then realize that getting help now is your best option.
