When we entrust our children in the hands of a daycare provider we should never have to worry about them being exposed to dangerous drugs like meth, but after running across a recent disturbing news report, maybe it's something we need to think about or at least keep in mind.
Amanda Taylor from Davenport was sentenced to a prison term of ten years not long ago for operating a daycare business from her home where meth was being manufactured according to WQAD-TV. Amanda's boyfriend Dale Blumer only received probation after pleading guilty of producing meth at the daycare the report stated.
Sadly a little four year old that attended the day care tested higher than Amanda Taylor did for meth. The mother of the four year old Fawn Waack also had other children attending Amanda's day care. She tearfully stated her son was "complaining of headaches, staying up late at night, couldn't sleep."
We know that when a person abuses meth themselves, the long term health consequences can be very serious and possibly deadly. Unfortunately we don't know what the long term effects are for anyone exposed to the toxic fumes and vapors that are produced when meth is being cooked.
Children are innocently exposed to meth every day because their parents or someone else living in the home is manufacturing meth but we don't think about it happening in the home of someone we trust providing day care. We can only hope and pray that the little 4 year old boy and other children that were exposed to meth while attending daycare at Amanda Taylor's will be ok, and that there won't be any long term lasting dangerous effects.
