Using Meth for Weight Loss is a Mistake

Using Meth for Weight Loss is a Mistake

Methamphetamine sold on the streets has rapidly increased in use over the past several years throughout the U.S. Meth users come from all walks of life and many are battling the destructive effects of this addiction because it's so difficult to overcome.

Meth can be ingested, snorted, injected or smoked but all methods can lead to addiction with continued use. Meth raises heart rate and blood pressure which increases the user's risk of having a stroke or heart attack which could be fatal. High doses of meth can cause many serious medical complications including convulsions due to dangerously elevated body temperature, breathing problems, seizures, and cardiovascular collapse.

    Crystal Meth

The smokable form of the drug crystal meth, is often preferred by users because the euphoric effects are said to be experienced immediately and last much longer. The same holds true when meth is injected although this route of administration isn't usually taken among new users.

    Methamphetamine and Weight Loss

Besides euphoria, the immediate effects of methamphetamine also includes increased physical activity and decreased appetite. For these reasons, some people have turned to meth so they could achieve weight loss more rapidly with the intentions of quitting once the extra pounds have disappeared but were hit with reality later. This is exactly what happened to a teacher, her story can be found on the Business Insider.

This has happened to more people than you may think and some share their stories in hopes of reaching others who may be tempted to use meth for weight loss. A wife and mother shared her story about meth addiction with Yahoo several years ago and hopes her story will keep someone else from using meth.
