    The Man of My Dreams

I met the man of my dreams (so I thought) 15 years ago. Big age difference, but didn't seem to matter. That wasn't the problem. At first it was alcohol & marijuana. Those problems were real but seem like nothing now. DUI's, frequent trips to the local dealers with missing money from pay checks. That had begun to be common and a lifestyle. Lost days of work became more common, and write ups and on the brink of losing the same job of many years. Those were easy to work out. We beat those. And started dreaming of what we were going to buy and have through our lives together.

We did have a precious granddaughter (my children from a previous marriage) She loves her PawPaw. I began to see different behavioral patterns when he began to hang out with a brother that was divorced and recovering from addictions as well. It got worse and worse. Beer was replaced with Liquor. Marijuana was replaced with Crystal Meth. Home was replaced with where ever you end up for the day or night. (Or do you know which it is?)

Calling in work became more frequent and arguments in front of anybody that happened to be around including the granddaughter. Now the precious child sees her PawPaw whom she loves and trusted and felt safe with as a stranger that she fears sometimes, never knowing is this the PawPaw that loves me or is this the man that comes home and fights with my MawMaw? The dreams we had have not came true. We were still working on them. This is it! Our dream has turned into a nightmare at the hands of someone who will willingly hand you over this drug and watch you began the first step of destroying your life and your entire families' life. Although nobody will twist your arm and make you do it. But the devil has a way of creeping in and I believe that devil has taken over this man I met 15 years ago. I will be single now once again. And the man of my dreams will be his own nightmare.

    Faith (not real), Alabama
