    Methamphetamine Abuse and Schizophrenia

    Methamphetamine Abuse and Schizophrenia

According to Medline Plus a study shows that people who heavily abuse meth could be at an increased risk of "developing schizophrenia" which is unfortunately a serious life-long brain disorder.

We know that schizophrenia is a severe chronic brain disorder that affects many people throughout the United States.

This is an illness that is very disabling to those who are affected by the symptoms which includes hearing voices, being afraid that people are against them or plotting against them. Some people are afraid that others can read their minds and they live in terror at times.

Individuals suffering with schizophrenia not only hear voices but many times see things that aren't really there or feel as though they're being touched when there's no one else around. Their thinking is very dysfunctional and when they talk they don't always make sense. I personally know an individual suffering from schizophrenia that blacked out his computer and television screens because he just knew he was being spied on all of the time.

Methamphetamine abuse is very widespread in many areas throughout the United States and today there are a lot of young people as well as adults abusing this drug. Meth is very powerful and addictive and a person can become addicted very easily. Chronic meth use destroys a person's health as well as their ability to function on a normal basis.

The effects of meth addiction can destroy a person's life if they're a heavy user for an extended period of time and it's even scarier to think that there could be a risk of developing schizophrenia as well.
