Contamination, Contaminated by Touching a Meth User (Cross-contamination)

    Question:
If someone you have been around does meth and you touch them in any way, are you then contaminated?

    Answer:
If a meth user has chemical contamination on their skin, clothes or hair you can be contaminated if you touch them. If the meth user also cooks meth they would have chemical debris just about everywhere and yes, then you could become contaminated by touching them. To my understanding just to touch someone who uses meth could not contaminate you.

Is there a process for cleaing clothing and bedding when exposed? Or should they be thrown away. Also electronic equipment exposed, how should they be handled after a cleanup.

    Lori,
When it comes to an individual cooking meth you never know what chemicals they are using and either way these again are very dangerous chemicals. Any electronic equipment, bedding, towels, wash rags, ect. Should be put in trash bags and marked so when the appropriate authorities come out to clean up the grandparents' home they can expose of it.
YOU NEVER want to just throw items exposed to meth in the trash as innocent people will be exposed to the residue and this will make them sick. You also have to remember the individuals whom collect the grandparent's trash if exposed can get the residue from the meth on their clothes and skin and take it home to their families. Then what if they have children? No one wants to expose children to this dangerous and deadly drug.
Again contact the police department and let them contact the appropriate authorities to come out and clean the house and let them expose of the trash bags.

If you find that someone has been cooking meth in a building behind your home and they had been coming into your home to take shower and use the restroom. Is there chance of getting contamination in your home.
A grandson was cooking meth in building in back of grandparents home in this case. Is there any symptoms the grandparent should be aware of to determine if she was exposed or report to DR.

    Lori,
When an individual is cooking meth that are exposing themselves to very dangerous and harmful chemicals. The residue from these chemicals gets on an individual's skin and will cause many irritations. It will also linger on their clothes. So if an individual comes in their grandparent's home after cooking meth they are tracking the residue throughout the grandparents' house. This residue can get on the grandparents skin and cause them rashes, burns and irritate their skin. This residue will also linger in the air therefore the grandparents are breathing in these chemicals and this could make the very ill.
The scary part is our elderly people already get sick very easy and if they have breathing or health problems this could make them deathly sick. There is no cleaner you can personally go buy to get rid of the chemical or residue out of the grandparents' home. You need to get them out of that house and contact your local police department so they can get the appropriate authorities out to clean up the grandparents' home and backyard.
You should also take the grandparents to their doctor and have a checkup done. Then you need to tell the grandparents by allowing this individual to cook meth in their backyard and stay in their home they are enabling this persons behavior. They need to try and do an intervention to get the individual help or kick the individual out and off their property until they are ready to seek help themselves.
