    Choosing Meth Over Love

My name is Kay; I met a man named David 2 years ago, through a fix up from my brother, newly out of the prison system, wanting to start his live over, since this was his second offense. He was wonderful and I fell head over heels in love with him. After we moved in together and he got a job in Texas things were great.

Until the day he tried meth just one more time. This one last time ended in him losing his job, never being home, stealing and I don't even try to think about what else, it completely controlled his actions. But I stood by him, even when he was sent to jail in April of 2004. I have letters stating he had learned his lesson, spent 62 days in jail. We started over, he did not use from April to September, got a good job etc. We married in September and now 2 months later I have left him. I have tried to understand, stand by him to no avail. It always ends up something I have done and I cannot handle it. When I left and left annulment papers for him to sign. I am sad, but tough love is all I know now. And yes, I found the evidence not that I couldn't tell from the 14 pounds he dropped in a week and the mood swings. I have tried and would love for things to work, but I am not seeing the future clearly at this point. Why? I have never tried drugs, so I can't say it would or would not be easy to quit, but at 42 I would think I would be grown up better than that.

    Kay, Wylie, Texas, USA
